Dear Friends and Newsletter Subscribers,

I have much news.

I'm very sad to say that I've been laid off from my job at Spirituality & Health magazine where I was managing editor for six and a half years.

One of the things I really enjoyed there (now erased) was a blog. And I'm happy to announce I've started one on my own website. As I look for work, I'll add what I learn. Maybe that will be of help to others who have been creamed in this recession.

Also, I've done a Linkedin profile at http://www.linkedin.com/in/betsyrobinsonwriter. Many of my friends in publishing have recommended it, and it seems to be a good site. Check out my profile if you so choose. And feel free to connect and recommend. (I welcome all help at this point.)

And for everybody, if you haven't seen it, I recommend that you run and see the movie of "Doubt" by my old colleague John Patrick Shanley. In the foreword to the published version of this Pulitzer Prize-winning play, he says:

What is Doubt? Each of us is like a planet. There's the crust, which seems eternal. We are confident about who we are. If you ask, we can readily describe our current state. I know my answers to so many questions, as do you. What was your father like? Do you believe in God? Who's your best friend? What do you want? Your answers are your current topography, seemingly permanent, but deceptively so. Because under that face of easy response, there is another You. And this wordless Being moves just as the instant moves; it presses upward without explanation, fluid and wordless, until the resisting consciousness has no choice but to give way.
